City Hall
Olmos Park's new City Hall/Police Department is well on its way to
completion, located across the street from the current
administrative offices at 119 W. El Prado. On January 28th, city
officials, the architect and contractor turned the first shovels of dirt
for the new building. You can view renderings of the west, north,
east and south exteriors of the building by clicking the links.
Earlier in January, City Council members approved a Construction
Manager At-Risk agreement with Guido Brothers Construction
Company to build the 5,980 square foot facility at a guaranteed
maximum price of $1,487,900. By contractual agreement, the
building must be completed in eight months, with an additional one
month grace period for unforeseen delays.
City Council previously set aside $1.3 million in a dedicated
construction fund for the City Hall/Police Department and has
additional unencumbered cash reserves to pay for the remaining
expenses without incurring debt.
City Council members have also approved a final design for the
new Fire Department, which will be built on the site of the current
City Hall. You can review the exterior design here and the interior
floor plan here. The 6,381 square foot building is expected to cost
$1,485,000. Construction in the Fire Department is scheduled to
begin in early October, following completion of the City Hall/Police
Department. It will take approximately eight and a half months to
complete work on the fire station.
